In high school, Family and Consumer Education classes were my area of interest. I was most successful in my interior design and culinary arts classes. As a result, I was presented with an opportunity to participate in ProStart. ProStart is a nation wide culinary arts and restaurant management competition that allows young adults to explore artistic pathways and connect with working professionals.

My four teammates and I represented our high school on the state level in the ProStart management competition. The final business proposal for and restaurant concept for Per Se earned us the title of 2015 Wisconsin State ProStart Management Champions. My high school experience with ProStart provided early exposure to the field of restaurant management and has stuck with me throughout my time at Marquette University.

Creating a restaurant concept from the ground up showed me that it is possible to combine my love of cooking and interior design. My interest in those two areas are hobbies at the moment, but I hope to eventually allow them to translate into a career. Until I am fully able to live out my dream, I intend on exploring cities and cuisines to learn the most about what the world has to offer.
